THE EFFECT OF EARTHQUAKE DISASTER EDUCATION USING THE CARD PLAYING METHOD ON STUDENTS' KNOWLEDGE

Earthquake are a natural disaster that can occur suddenly and in a short time and can cause significant damage. Preparedness and appropriate responses are essential to reduce the impact. SDN 1 Bandungrejo is one of the schools located in an earthquake-prone area, where elementary school-aged students are a vulnerable group due to their low level of knowledge regarding disaster mitigation. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of disaster education through a card game method on increasing students' knowledge about earthquakes. This study used a quantitative approach, with a preexperimental desain with a pretest-posttest approach. The sample size was 32 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significant increase in knowledge after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05). It can be concluded that the card game-based earthquake education method is effective in increasing elementary school students' understanding of earthquake mitigation.
