SOEPRAOEN HOSPITAL
https://ijens.itsk-soepraoen.ac.id/index.php/ijens/article/view/57

Final year nursing students are individuals who are often exposed to stress. In their daily activities, they face physical and psychological pressures in academics. When stress strikes, cortisol levels become imbalanced, disrupting hormones in the menstrual cycle. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress levels and the menstrual cycle of final year nursing students at ITSK Dr. Soepraoen Hospital. This study used a cross-sectional method with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 62 final year nursing students using an accidental sampling technique. The instrument in this study was the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-42) questionnaire and took into account the menstrual cycle (normal & abnormal), data analysis used the Spearman Rank test. Based on the results of the Spearman's rho test conducted between the variables of stress levels and menstruation, there was a significant relationship between the two. The Spearman correlation coefficient value of 0.367 indicates a moderate positive correlation, meaning that the higher the stress level, the greater the likelihood of changes in menstruation. The results of the significance test (p=0.040) indicate that this correlation is significant at the 0.05 level of significance, meaning a relationship between stress levels and menstruation. The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between stress levels and the menstrual cycle in final year students.
Sabrina Oktaviona, Juliati Koesrini, Hanim Mufarokhah

https://ijens.itsk-soepraoen.ac.id/index.php/ijens/article/view/64

Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways that causes bronchial hyperreactivity and leads to episodic symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing, which are reversible in nature. In emergency conditions, disturbances occur in the airway, breathing, and circulation, characterized by an increased respiratory rate (>30 breaths per minute) and decreased SpO₂ levels due to hypoxia. This condition requires immediate management as it can be life-threatening.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Buteyko breathing technique as a nursing intervention to improve oxygen saturation in asthma patients in the inpatient ward of Lavalette Hospital. A descriptive method in the form of a case study of nursing care was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the Buteyko breathing technique in increasing oxygen saturation among asthma patients in Lavalette Hospital, Malang. The approach was based on the nursing process, including assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide an in-depth understanding of the intervention outcomes. The results showed an improvement in oxygen saturation and a decrease in respiratory rate after the implementation of the Buteyko breathing technique in asthma patients. Both patients demonstrated better breathing patterns, reduced shortness of breath, and increased independence in performing the breathing exercises. The Buteyko breathing technique is effective as a non-pharmacological intervention to enhance oxygenation and improve respiratory function in patients with asthma.
Mulyana Mulyana, Ardhiles Wahyu Kurniawan

https://ijens.itsk-soepraoen.ac.id/index.php/ijens/article/view/63

Alcohol addiction is one of the most common health problems among young adults. At this stage of life, individuals often face social pressures, risky lifestyles, and identity searches, which can increase their tendency to consume alcohol. Alcohol is known to have a negative impact on brain function, especially memory, which plays an important role in daily activities and academic and work performance. Methods: This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 50 early adult respondents selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments used included the Alcohol Dependence Scale (ADS) to measure the level of alcohol addiction and the Everyday Memory Questionnaire Revised (EMQ-R) to assess the respondents' memory. The data were analyzed using Spearman's test to determine the relationship between the two variables. Results: The results showed that of the 50 respondents, 13 respondents (26%) were in the low addiction category, 11 respondents (22%) were in the moderate category, 25 respondents (50%) were in the substantial category, and 1 respondent (2%) was in the severe category. Meanwhile, the respondents' memory conditions showed that 14 respondents (28%) had normal memory function, 5 respondents (10%) had mild memory impairment, 29 respondents (58%) had moderate memory impairment, and 2 respondents (4%) had severe memory impairment. Further analysis showed a significant relationship between the level of alcohol addiction and memory impairment in early adulthood. Conclusion: This study concluded that the higher the level of alcohol addiction, the greater the risk of memory impairment. These findings confirm that alcohol addiction in early adulthood is a serious problem that requires attention. Therefore, prevention efforts, health education, and early intervention at the community and educational institution levels are needed to protect cognitive function in the early adult age group.
Raka Syahputra, Heny Nurmayunita, Alfunnafi’ Fahrul Rizal

https://ijens.itsk-soepraoen.ac.id/index.php/ijens/article/view/16

Depression is a disease that is often not detected but significantly reduces the quality of life of the elderly, depression in the elderly can be caused by a lack of ability to adapt to oneself due to the process of physical, mental or social decline. The purpose of the study was to describe the indications of depression in the elderly with the frequency of non-communicable diseases at the integrated healthcare center for the elderly in Banjarejo Village, RW 02, Pakis Distric, Malang Regency.

This research is a quantitative research with a descriptive research design. The population in this study were all elderly residents at the elderly integrated healthcare center RW 02 in Banjarejo Village, Pakis Distric, Malang Regency who suffered from non-communicable diseases as many as 100 people. The sample in this study were some of the elderly at the elderly integrated healthcare center as many as 40 people using Accidental Sampling. This research was conducted on January- February 2024. The research instrument used was the Geriatric Depression Scale. Data analysis used univariate or frequency distribution.

The results showed that 67,5% were in the normal category, while 27,5% were elderly with mild depression indications, and 5% had severe depression indication categories. This is predicted because most of the elderly in Banjarejo Village are still working and active in environmental activities, so that they can improve the cognitive abilities of the elderly and help them avoid the risk of prolonged depression.
Dr. Ardhiles Wahyu Kurniawan, M.
